Although Surveillance Technology, Inc. (STI) typically focuses on commercial installments, an occasional request arises for covering less traditional properties. In the spring of 2025, STI answered such a call at an alpaca ranch in Dade City, FL. The family who owns the ranch wanted to be able to watch their beloved alpacas whenever they wished.
Five 4K pan, tilt, and zoom (PTZ) cameras offer 475’ of ultra-low-lux night vision for the Alpaca Ranch, serving as a robust night vision security camera in Dade City. Using 25x optical zoom, these cameras can zoom out 600’ to the property perimeter. When strategically positioned to provide coverage in specific patterns, these cameras can detect and follow any human or vehicle that may encroach on the property. The cameras are always recording, via two 16 channel NVRs, with one in each barn. To optimize this system’s design, STI trenched 500’ of cable and installed multiple wireless bridges to leverage a single internet connection.
The impeccable image quality available with this setup allows the alpaca owners to view their furry friends at any time, and ensure the safety and wellbeing of their treasured pets.
