Coachman Reserve, in Clearwater, FL, recently partnered with Tampa-based Surveillance
Technology, Inc. for a complete replacement of its security system. At 15 years old, the
community’s existing system was repeatedly incurring expenses to repair and maintain.
Intermittent problems with security gates and deteriorating cables were beginning to nickel and
dime the community and, more importantly, make their equipment unreliable. While exploring
options with Surveillance Technology Inc. (STI), they learned that the regular cable installed 15
years prior has an average useful life of only 5 years. STI uses direct burial cables protected by
conduit which is estimated to last 20 years. As a local provider, STI knows that even the best
equipment often fails to reach a manufacturer’s optimistic estimates when subjected to
Florida’s extreme environmental conditions. Still, despite the cost and effort to bore and install
conduit, decision makers at Coachman Reserve could see the value in doing just that.
In addition to installing a new infrastructure, STI removed and replaced the previous gate
access equipment at both community entrances with Viking operators and Door King Entry
systems. Multiple 4K, 8-megapixel cameras were also installed to oversee and protect the new
gates, along with license plate recognition cameras to capture tag information from vehicles at
both entrances. Surveillance Technology takes pride in partnering with a variety of clients for
