Oldsmar, FL October 2020
The City of Oldsmar offers the most direct route between Clearwater and Tampa without a bridge yet remains a bit of a “hidden gem” in Tampa Bay. Their motto is, “It starts in parks.” Oldsmar residents enjoy a myriad of parks of all shapes and sizes. There are dog parks, waterfront beaches, nature preserves and miles of trails; but the heart of recreation is Cypress Forest Park and Recreation Center. City officials recently engaged the services of local experts at Surveillance Technology, Inc. (STI) to customize a surveillance system package for this property.
This project was unique due to the variety of activities taking place at the center. A 16 channel H.265 4K DVR was installed to support a dozen cameras. Eight of these were turret style cameras with 2.7mm – 13mm motorized, autofocus lenses for tight shots of the interior with 4K resolution. These cameras primarily oversee interior areas such as the 8,000 square foot multipurpose gym and three program rooms. Cypress Woods is best known for its outdoor recreation, including a splash park, outdoor fitness equipment and Oldsmar Trail Head, which warranted the use of four bullet style 4K cameras. A bullet camera offers 180 feet of night vision, making it a superior in this scenario to a turret, which extends only 90 feet.
The residents of Oldsmar treasure their parks. Surveillance Technology, Inc. understands the city’s priority of funding its recreational facilities and is grateful for the opportunity to maximize the city’s investment in protecting its employees and property.
