Many communities today have some sort of surveillance and/or community access control system. As a result, a good deal of Surveillance Technology’s business focuses on upgrading or replacing existing equipment, as opposed to installing a first time setup. The Bella Vista community in Seminole, FL, had an old CCTV system covering two clubhouses and a gated pool. Although they recognized the need to enhance their surveillance capabilities and build a more modern system, Board members were not willing to invest in an entirely new set of cameras. They chose to allocate resources to upgrade the most critical equipment, while continuing to leverage existing cameras and cables that were still performing well and in good condition.
Surveillance Technology, Inc. (STI) replaced 2 cameras in the pool area with 24/7 color CCTV cameras, which provide clear color images around the clock, even in night vision mode. Four 4K traditional IR CCTV cameras were installed in the clubhouse to oversee the gym, bathroom hallways, and other common areas. One additional camera on the front exterior of the building covers the parking and mailbox areas.
New CAT 6 cables were run to the entrance of the community, where they have upgraded cameras to capture broad views of both gates. 24/7 color IP cameras were chosen for this location because IP cameras offer 30 frames per second, rather than the 10 frames per second used in the remaining CCTV equipment mentioned above. The higher frame rate facilitates clearer images of fast moving objects, such as cars. They also added a 5 megapixel IP license plate reader. A key reason to select a standalone license plate reader camera is the ability to create a flat file of tag data, which will generate an indexable database of every vehicle that has entered or exited the property.
This is not an uncommon scenario and is a great opportunity for a hybrid recorder that can accommodate both CCTV and IP Cameras. This allows you to focus your budgeted funds and effort where they matter most. While Bella Vista raises funds for further upgrades, they can partner with Surveillance Tech to further the evolution of their overall surveillance solution.
If you’re wondering how to choose the right video surveillance system for your business or community, call Surveillance Technology for a consultation. If you have a CCTV system and are hoping to adopt improved technology without making the switch of your entire system, STI can help you proactively plan an incremental modification that continues putting your existing equipment to good use.
