Lakeland and Englewood, FL; October 2020
In certain industries, a partnership with Surveillance Technology, Inc. (STI) is a competitive advantage. In self-storage, for example, few features are more mission critical than security. AAA Storage offers immaculately-maintained and hassle-free storage at more than a dozen locations across Texas and Florida. Their trifecta of security measures are onsite management, 24/7 surveillance monitoring, and gated access.
They recently chose Tampa-based STI to outfit their Lakeland location with a full surveillance package. AAA offers climate controlled interior storage in a building previously occupied by a big-box retailer. STI installed bullet style 4K cameras with 3.6mm lenses at exterior entrance doors and the front and rear gates, as well as the rear loading dock. Several business security cameras were attached to ceiling beams, shooting down the aisles between units. These cameras offer 24/7 color, capturing color footage even in night vision mode. Three traditional turret style 4K cameras with infra-red capability were installed under the property’s breezeway and in the lobby’s common and move-in areas.
The Lakeland location will soon offer exterior vehicle storage. Varifocal lenses were used to achieve broad views of this storage area and tight views of the front entrance, as the areas requiring attention are far away from the building where the cameras are mounted. Varifocal lenses allow managers to zoom in on key areas of interest. All of the property’s cameras feed footage to a 16 channel H.265 4K DVR through 15,050 feet of cable, which can be monitored on a 43” 4K monitor in the office.
In Englewood, FL, AAA began the first phase of a strategic installation with Surveillance Technology. This began with a 16 channel H.265 4K DVR. Although the property’s initial installation could be accommodated with an 8 channel DVR, the 16 channel unit allows room for growth into the next planned phase.
STI installed two turret style 4K cameras with 2.8mm fixed lenses, ideal for broad views of the parking areas and the exterior doors. One camera was placed in the lobby, trained on the entrance from the interior. Broad views of the entrance gates and storage areas are provided by three 3.6mm bullet style 4K cameras offering 24/7 color. An additional bullet style 4K camera was mounted on a camera pole with a varifocal lens for tight views down the aisle between storage units. Its 2.7mm – 13mm motorized, autofocus lens can be used to zoom in to the far end of the aisle. These camera feeds are viewable on a 43” 4K monitor in the office, so property managers are able to monitor all indoor and outdoor units in real time.
