Surveillance Technology (STI) recognizes unique needs, even in projects that may appear to be similar. STI has upgraded the surveillance camera systems at a number of apartment complexes for the Mahaffey Company; and their recent work at Carlton Arms Winter Haven focused on a transition to IP technology, instead of CCTV. The client chose an IP framework because it allows 30 frames per second. CCTV technology can offer 4K resolution, but only at 10 frames per second, which can lead to motion blur with rapidly moving subjects, such as someone running past a camera. The IP system installed at this property captures full motion without blur, and they opted to add traditional night vision capabilities.
At the main entrance, new cameras provide broad views of incoming and outgoing traffic & vehicle tags. These IP license plate readers create a flat file of tag numbers, which functions as searchable data. This property has two clubhouses offering amenities such as laundry, gym, swimming pool, and common areas. These each received a 4K NVR with H.265 compression; but as the clubhouses differ in size, STI installed a 16 channel and an 8 channel unit respectively. Surveillance Tech approaches each space with an eye for meeting specific needs without adding needless capacity and cost.
STI typically recommends coverage of maintenance areas for residential communities, to protect valuable equipment. At Carlton Arms Winter Haven, eight traditional IR cameras now cover the storage areas, locked courtyard, car care center, and the entrance gate to the maintenance facility. An adjacent RV and boat parking lot already had conduit, allowing STI to run cable to 3 added cameras, for tight views of the gate and broad shots of the lot. These IP cameras offer 24/7 color night vision on the high value assets. All cameras in this area are supported by a 16 channel H.265 4K NVR.
Despite using a wide variety of equipment and technology to achieve the client’s surveillance goals, all of the footage throughout the new property is still viewable on the same platform as all of the other Mahaffey properties outfitted by Surveillance Tech.
