Surveillance Technology, Inc. (STI) has established a reputation as a first-in-class provider of surveillance and access control solutions in Spring Hill and beyond for assisted living and residential medical care facilities. Evergreen Woods Health and Rehab recently engaged STI for a surveillance package at their Spring Hill property. Two 16 channel H.265 4K DVRs were installed to support twenty one turret style 4K cameras. These cameras cover all interior entrance doors and spaces used for therapy, recreation, dining, and medication disbursement, in addition to the exterior of the main entrance. Footage from two dozen cameras can be monitored from two 28” 4K video monitors in the management office.
At this property, every interior wall is fire rated. As a result, twenty two new cables had to be protected with fire sleeves and 3M systems at all wall penetration points. This extra level of care must be taken to meet code and underscores the importance of working with a knowledgeable provider equipped to meet your property’s requirements.
An access control system was also installed, consisting of a video door phone at the main entrance door. Desktop monitors at the reception desk and nurse’s station allow staff to see, hear, and speak to potential visitors, and grant access to guests with the push of a button. Additional 22” monitors also provide views of the lobby and front entrance exterior, allowing users to see a larger area than just the door camera. This better informs decisions about when to unlock the doors, if these individuals are accompanied by others not visible on the door phone, or if there happens to be a resident in the lobby who may unexpectedly exit the property when the door is unlocked.
An easily accessible system like this empowers the Evergreen Woods staff to manage visitors without leaving patient areas. They can increase the security of residents while maintaining their standard of care.
