In sunny St Pete, leaders of the Five Towns at Berkshire community were looking for a better view of resident and guest activities in common areas around the property. The nearby experts at Surveillance Technology, Inc. (STI) designed a community surveillance package to provide the coverage they needed with cameras recorded on an 8 channel H.265 4K NVR. STI installed dual light Colormax 4K cameras to cover the breezeways on each floor, some of which lead to amenities accessible by all residents. The dual light enhancement can employ infrared (IR) capabilities for discreet nighttime images without light emission, or emit LED light for vivid, full color images that doubles as a deterrent, making it the best nighttime security camera.
The building is arranged in an L-shape, with a rectangular space in the middle of the property. A breezeway serpentines through the building, preventing a clear line of sight with its many corners and angles. STI starts each potential project with a thorough assessment of the property, to design a solution with optimal placement of premium equipment. In the main hallway at Five Towns, Surveillance Tech pointed two cameras in opposite directions to capture both directions going north/south and east/west. Additional cameras monitor the arrival of all visitors and residents at the elevator landing area. Coupled with surveillance at the stairwells, this setup is sure to capture images of anyone accessing the property via the stairs or elevator. Comprehensive coverage is an important strategic objective to prevent intruders and trespassers from avoiding detection.
Cameras also cover the trash chute and laundry areas. Properly monitored waste disposal sites are less likely to attract pests or pose hazardous conditions. Laundry facilities can also be vulnerable to a variety of risks. Unsecured laundry rooms can lead to stolen clothing, damaged machines, and even personal safety concerns for users. If the laundry area is perceived as unsafe, this negative impression can deter people from using the facilities altogether, impacting resident satisfaction. But a well-lit, tidy space with visible surveillance is reassuring to users. When residents feel safe, they are likely to use the laundry facilities more often and with more confidence. This subtle shift in usage generates additional participation in the space, which further improves security.
