Hilton needed a state-of-the-art surveillance solution for their Airport Westshore location to support a strategic endeavor. Located minutes from the Buccaneers stadium and upscale shopping venues, this Tampa hotel’s 238 rooms and 12,000 sq ft of conference space are in high demand by the public; but its proximity to the airport makes it a natural fit for partnering with airlines as an approved lodging provider. Locally owned Surveillance Technology, Inc. (STI) was recently able to deliver a solution to meet the rigorous criteria required by one airline with whom Hilton was hoping to secure a contract.
STI installed fourteen 4K IP cameras on the property with the latest AI technology. These 8-megapixel turret style cameras are equipped with 3.6mm fixed lenses, which are ideal for broad views of general areas. In particular, the cameras used in the stairwells have integrated microphones, along with an artificial intelligence system designed to notify hotel staff of certain activity. With this cutting-edge capability, the client can implement analytics in desired areas with customized parameters for notifications, including virtual boundaries, types of activity such as human entry, and specific time windows. If these parameters are met, the AI will give notice to authorized users in real time by email and text.
To retain the footage from these cameras, a 16 channel H.265 4K network video recorder (NVR) was mounted alongside their other technology equipment, in addition to an integrated 16 port power over ethernet (POE) switch. The benefit of POE is that it sends data and powers the unit concurrently. This frees up the client’s other bandwidth for everyday business operations. In all, 2,900’ of CAT 6 cable was used for this project.
