Located on Isla del Sol in St. Petersburg, FL, the Palma Del Mar condominium complex offers a taste of paradise to residents of its 140 units. With waterfront views of Boca Ciega Bay and proximity to the highlights of the Tampa Bay community, it’s no wonder that Palma del Mar is highly sought-after by year-round and seasonal residents alike. The condominium association recently decided to upgrade the existing analog surveillance system, to ensure the safety and security of shared spaces. They contracted local St. Petersburg surveillance provider, Surveillance Technology Inc. (STI) to modernize the equipment already found in common areas, such as the lobby, recreation room, and elevator landings. There was also a need for additional coverage in key areas, such as those used for parking and trash.
In the first phase of work with the association, STI installed a 16 channel H.265 4K DVR, to support a variety of 4K cameras strategically placed throughout the complex. 2.7mm – 13mm motorized, autofocus varifocal lens bullet cameras were used for tight views in the parking garage and trash area, while turret cameras focused on each floor and the call boxes. Seven additional turret style 4K cameras were equipped with 2.8mm fixed lenses, which are better suited for broad views of locations like stairwells, the lobby, and the recreation room.
1,300 feet of cable connect the array of cameras to the DVR and a new 28” 4K monitor, which allows authorized personnel to view a live feed from the maintenance office. Surveillance Technology is eager to get started on the next phase of this project with Palma del Mar, which is expected to include another 4 channel DVR and camera coverage for the pool area.
Communities like Palma del Mar have a unique responsibility to maintain ideal conditions in shared spaces and protect jointly owned assets, while also minimizing the financial impact to individual homeowners. Surveillance Technology is masterful at guiding clients to the optimum solution to fit their budget.
