In most cases, prospective clients come to Surveillance Technology, Inc. (STI) without much knowledge of surveillance solutions. They look to STI for education and expertise to design a solution to meet their needs. But when STI was asked to update the entry system to the Promenade at Lake Park community, they found a well versed client with a clear idea of what they intended to use.
At the time, the community had a traditional DoorKing phone line entry system at the front and rear entrances. A well-informed board member had proactively identified the brand of hardware they would want to use and set about finding a quality provider. Ultimately, the board chose Surveillance Technology, based on STI’s experience with these best-in-class products.
STI installed a new CAP X-LV Lift Master system, a smart video intercom which streams live video around the clock and stores it in cloud storage. 24/7 streaming is not available over cellular connections and requires a cable modem with a dedicated IP address to manage the video footage. Systems that are integrated on CellGate, for example, only offer still frames, not streaming video.
The new entry system is app driven, giving Promenade residents the ability to view visitors at the call box and grant them access. They can also generate a unique QR code to grant single day access to specific visitors. This is particularly helpful for anticipated deliveries, service providers, and guests. For those who don’t care to manage access requests by app, the new system continues to offer traditional call box access features.
STI added UHF long range readers at each entrance, perched on fluted poles customized to match the existing light poles in the community. It’s important that entry systems work well, but they needn’t be an inconspicuous or unattractive addition to your community entrance.
The gates are now equipped with Siren Operated Sensors (SOS) to recognize the yelp of emergency responders’ sirens. Unlike a traditional Knox Key used by emergency vehicles, an SOS system does not require first responders to later close the gate behind them. Knox Keys can pose a security concern, as only emergency personnel can open – and later shut – entry points. A siren-operated gate can open for these vehicles just as easily but still close behind them without further reliance on the responders.
This installation is an excellent example of Surveillance Technology listening to the concerns and preferences of their clients to develop an effective solution for long term use and first rate protection.
