Protein Depot manufactures protein drinks for fitness enthusiasts and weightlifters. The owners
are headquartered in New York but wanted the ability to view and hear what transpires in daily
operations at their manufacturing location in Oldsmar, FL. The new custom surveillance system
installed by Surveillance Technology, Inc. (STI) allows them to monitor productivity from out of
state and reach out to the team if they see something that warrants correction or modification.
STI equipped the property with fourteen 8-megapixel turret style 4K IP cameras with
microphones, which provide video and audio coverage of all storage and production areas of
the business. These are supplemented by seven 5-megapixel bullet style IP cameras to provide
broad views of the front and rear exterior. Other providers may have sold Protein Depot a
package of only 8-megapixel cameras. But Surveillance Technology recognized they didn’t need
that much resolution in every location. By mixing 5 and 8 megapixel technology, STI was able to
offer detail where it is warranted, yet save money while achieving the owners’ goals.
All footage is recorded on a new 32 channel H.265 4K DVR with a 32 port POE switch. In all, this
project required 2,700’ of CAT 6 ethernet cable. Although STI often designs projects without
audio features, they were able to meet this particular client’s desire to both see and hear
everything in the target environment. They have the equipment and expertise to create
tailored solutions in innovative ways.
