Shipwatch Yacht and Tennis Club
Largo, FL
The Shipwatch Yacht and Tennis Club community sits on the intracoastal waters of Largo, FL. In addition to 400 private condominium units, the property boasts two swimming pools, a dozen tennis courts, a pro shop, two clubhouses, and a 32-slip marina. The marina in particular was recently in need of a surveillance solution for recurring thefts from the ice house. A member of Shipwatch’s homeowners’ association recommended local provider, Surveillance Technology, Inc. (STI) for the job.
After a consultation with onsite property management regarding the marina’s needs, STI installed an 8 channel 4K DVR with H.265 compression inside the ice house, in a steel locking enclosure. Four 24/7 color cameras were added, which capture color footage even in night vision mode. Bullet style cameras offer broad 4K views of the boat bay, while one 4K infrared camera with a varifocal lens provides tight views on the ice house, as the key area of concern. The cameras were mounted on existing 14’ light poles and illuminate the marina at night in stunning fashion. In all, the project required 300 feet of trenching and a thousand feet of cable. STI used direct burial cable, which outlasts traditional UV cable by five times, due to the protection of its outer coating.
This partnership with Shipwatch is an excellent example of Surveillance Technology’s consultative approach to meeting client’s needs. Through the referral of a satisfied client, this installation paired existing resources with the latest technology to target a specific problem and also set the marina up for future success in monitoring and deterring unwanted behaviors on the property.
