Steak ‘n Shake, known for steakburgers and hand-dipped milkshakes, has been serving customers since 1934 and has grown to more than 400 locations. Surveillance Technology (STI) recently outfitted the new Wesley Chapel store with an extensive surveillance solution and technology support, specifically tailored for retail video surveillance.
Twenty one IP cameras were installed with Ultra Color Max technology. These cameras are equipped with the highest quality video chip, offering night vision without sacrificing smooth resolution when capturing motion. Ten bullet style cameras on the perimeter of the property, and eleven turrets inside, send 4K footage to a 32 channel H.265 NVR.
Interior cameras are strategically placed to monitor the pick up window, cash registers, kitchen, lobby, key equipment, and self-serve kiosks. Exterior cameras cover the menu board, as well as license plates at the drive through. Because these cameras do not use traditional IR, there is no reflection off the plate to obscure the image.
In addition to the IP camera system, STI installed data drops and ethernet cables for all of the store’s devices, including speakers and interactive boards. To support the audio and network equipment, Surveillance Tech installed thirteen cat 6 ethernet cables, which were terminated on the device side, labeled, and tested. The patch panel on the equipment side was also labeled. STI mounted ten speakers already owned by the client, reducing equipment expense while still allowing for expert installation. Two audio amps were also installed & configured.
Steak & Shake founder, Gus Belt believed in the power of visibility to instill customer confidence. He was known to grind exceptional steaks directly into burgers in front of his customers, as a demonstration of quality. Surveillance Tech can instill the same level of confidence through transparency and sharing strategic plans with the client. The Steak & Shake slogan claims, “In Sight It Must Be Right.” Surveillance Tech will help you keep everything in sight, and they always get it right.
