Skanksa AB, a global construction behemoth, is building a more sustainable future. With 26,000 teammates and a staggering $16 billion in revenue, they have construction and development projects underway worldwide. U.S operations began in 1971, headquartered in New York; but their work with Surveillance Technology, Inc.(STI) is much closer to home. In early 2025, STI was engaged to secure a critical holding lot in Tampa Bay.
To meet Skanska’s goals of securing the lot in a cost effective manner, STI installed a simple but comprehensive construction site surveillance system. This system deploys notifications to property operators if a human or vehicle tries to penetrate the perimeter after hours.
The four cameras providing coverage are mounted on a pole. Two Ultra ColorMax bullet cameras offer broad 110° views and full AI features. When sensing intrusion, the cameras activate flashing lights and two way audio for immediate deterrence, simultaneously notifying management of the event. These cameras are trained on the entrance gate and along the fence line. Another bullet also provides 24/7 color footage. It is equipped with a 2.8 – 12 mm motorized lens, optically zoomed out to contribute tighter 4K views of the assets being stored. The final camera sports a 5 – 50 mm lens, zoomed out 300’, for tight shots of the lot’s side entrance. 4K images from all cameras are sent to an 8 channel H.265 NVR. To facilitate this, STI trenched 50’ of cable to the entrance gate, along with the conduit necessary to protect it.
Like STI, Skanska delivers innovative solutions to clients in a broad range of sectors. Surveillance Technology shares their focus on safety and execution when tackling both traditional and complex assignments. As a result of STI’s quality design and installation, Skanksa has referred several clients and written a complimentary Google review.
