Surveillance Technology, Inc. (STI) quoted work for the board of the Bella Capri condo community a couple of years ago. At the time, the community was not ready to move forward with the solution. Now, just a few years later, the community reached back out to STI to update and engage in the previously designed community surveillance solution. Surveillance Tech was honored to once again be considered, and pleased to have been selected to upgrade the equipment and capabilities at Bella Capri. Their recent work has focused on the surveillance for the building and its residents.
Like many beachfront multi-family residential properties in Florida, Bella Capri is constructed with several floors of residences atop a parking garage. A 16 channel NVR with H.265 compression and 4K resolution has been paired with a collection of 15 cameras throughout the property.
A dozen turret style 4K cameras include new dual light technology, which can employ infrared (IR) capabilities for capturing nighttime images without the use of additional light, or emit LED light for full color images of a welcoming, well-lit area. STI generally elects the latter for installations relying on 24/7 color coverage.
Due to its H-shaped structure, multiple camera angles are required to capture images of the driveways, aisles, and gates throughout the garage. A ColorMax Ultra camera with varifocal lens was used on the property’s south side to provide tight views of the entrance gate and call box. When considering where to place security cameras outside business or residential structures, you should consider line of sight and what may be beyond the main target. For example, the varifocal camera installed to target the dumpster area, including the surrounding wall and heavy gate, is thoughtfully aimed to include a view of the pool entrance.
Garbage disposal areas are a common concern for residential communities. Security cameras help identify and deter unauthorized dumping of waste, vandalism, and hazardous conditions. In some instances, footage can be used to identify individuals who violate waste management regulations, to encourage compliance with community protocols. Improper garbage disposal can have serious consequences, particularly along Florida’s beaches, where misplaced articles can have an impact on local wildlife on the sand and in the sea.
An additional 24/7 color bullet camera on the west side captures activities in the pool and hot tub, and near the beach access gate. Waterfront properties in the sunshine state are particularly vulnerable to unauthorized visitors to their pool and patio from the beach.
On the upper floors, the residential condominiums are clustered in small groups, each with its own elevator. With all four elevator lobbies covered, Bella Capri now has security footage of foot traffic to every unit. This comprehensive community surveillance solution covers all potential points of entry, the pool, trash usage, and vehicular traffic.
Two years ago, STI quoted Bella Capri on a job, which included less advanced solutions at a lower price. Upon returning for another quote for this new request, they have invested more heavily in the package proposed, which has elevated their video capabilities greatly. STI looks forward to working with them on the access control part of this project soon.
